Earlier in the year, we launched a new website for YES @ Richmond School, a support hub for parents, pupils and staff which aims to educate visitors on Learning Difficulties in schools.
Sarah worked with Kath and Steffy to find out exactly what information they wanted to display, the page structure and how they wanted the site to look. During these discussions, it was agreed that they wanted the new site to be very similar in style to the main Richmond School website as they wanted to be branded as part of the School but with subtle differences.
The main aim of the website is to share resources as well as help pupils and parents by keeping them informed of Parental Support Groups, tips on how to support children with learning difficulties. The information is incredibly helpful and has even been broken down by curriculum, meaning there are separate pages of advice for Maths and Literacy.
Another key element of the website is the Events and Training page. YES @ Richmond School provides a wide range of training with National Speakers and these events can now be easily booked onto using the website. At the moment users register for events but there is a provision for the website to take payment for events at a future date when Yes @ Richmond School would like it to.
The website also has a news page which Kath and Steffy are updating themselves and in the top right-hand corner, we have enabled a piece of functionality called Browse Aloud. Browse Aloud is a piece of software that makes websites accessible with screen reading and translation options for visitors with reading difficulties and dyslexia.
It has been a pleasure working with Kath, Steffy and Richmond School again and we hope visitors find the website easy to use and navigate as the information is incredibly important to a number of children, parents and schools across the region.
