You may at one time or another have been asked by someone what is your handle? This is something that has left a lot of our clients scratching their heads when they have been asked and we thought it would make the perfect topic for this month’s Jargon Buster.
Your online handle is another term for username, if someone were to ask you what your Twitter handle was as an example this would be your @ username, for us, our Twitter handle is @purplecreative_. It is important when you are setting up your business Social Media profiles that you try to find a handle that is as close to your business name as possible as this will help people find you easily in a user search.
As well as Twitter you can also create a Facebook handle, in doing this people will be able to tag you in posts and comments and you will then receive notifications when people are talking about your business online. This is a great way to gauge how people are responding to your business online and to get involved in the online conversation!
To add a layer of complication to the term (sorry!) whilst your handle is another word for username, not all usernames are handles. Your username for a secure site like your bank or even when you register an account for online shopping is not one you share with other people.
We hope this has helped explain this term and as always if you have any questions please get in touch and a member of the team will always be happy to help!
