Hello! My name is Callum and I have been spending the last week at Purple Creative doing work experience. Other than reading and listening to The Lambs by the great Major Peter Cottrell this week has been the most interesting in a long time. After I saw how professional my uncle’s website looked I knew I wanted to do my work experience here.
On Monday, I was given some Photoshop challenges which was easily the best part, I had never used Photoshop before and I was excited to learn how it works so I could make memes in the future (I’m thinking England’s JANUARY). The Photoshop challenges were just that, a challenge, I found myself googling a lot of techniques but that didn’t stop trying some stuff on my own.
The next day I started to learn the basics of HTML, I spent pretty much the entire day on a basic webpage, this would give me the skills to do what I needed in the rest of the week, it was important to learn the basics.
On Wednesday, I used what I had already done to add some style to my webpage with CSS, I had never used this before so I got the Purple team to help me thought it (they’re really nice 😊) I was also give some ‘real work’ on this day too, was asked to Photoshop a diagram for this company new product. This found itself to be a challenge because of my complete hopelessness with Photoshop but with some help from James I was able to complete the task.
The next day I began learning how to use JavaScript, which was cool but it’s no “The Anglo-Irish War” if know what I’m saying? Never the less I found it interesting and difficult. I was given some more ‘real work’ I did another Photoshop for the same company and I wrote about the launch of Warm and Well, a website purple had created.
Then we get to Friday where I was tasked with writing five paragraphs about my time at purple creative and I have to say, I have done so much and had such a good time it was difficult to talk about all of it but I have to say, anyone thinking of doing work experience here, go for it, trust me, you won’t be disappointed!
