A new website for the Coast 2 Coast Passport
The Client

The Coast 2 Coast Passport web project is underpinned by the Richmond Yorkshire Community Interest Company who supports economic growth in the community.

The CIC is involved in a number of local initiatives aimed at stimulating opportunity and growth in the region.

The Brief

In 2022 the famous Coast to Coast Walk was officially recognised as a National Trail and to support the £5,800,000 investment in the Coast to Coast‘ upgrade’ being made by Natural England, the CIC has launched the Official Coast to Coast Passport. This will allow walkers to collect distinctive stamps along the route and claim an official Completion Certificate at the end of their journey.

Purple was tasked with designing a website that would share useful information and fun facts about the walk and allow people to purchase the Passport online.

The site also needed to show the route and locations for the various Stamping Agents where people could have their passport stamped.

What We Did

With a Logo and brand already created by the CIC, we created a new design that fully adopted the brand and used colours to reflect the countryside.

The addition of a dotted line tracking across the pages gives the impression of a trail that adds to the suggestion of walking.

The use of images throughout the site helps to tell the story and showcase how stunning the trail is.

The route, and locations for the Stamping Agents, was plotted using Google Maps so that changes and additions can be easily made at any time.

To manage the online selling of the Passport, we implemented a Shop system, making the Passport available for easy buying, as well as a Cartoon created by professional cartoonist, Paul Wing Marshall. The shop system has the capacity to add more products and merchandise in the future.

The Outcome

The new website has been very well received by the community at large with online sales of the Passport currently at 140 and climbing.

The site fits perfectly into the sector it was designed for and we are excited to be part of this journey - excuse the pun!

Our home town of Richmond is around 2/3rds along the route to the finish point at Robin Hoods Bay and so seeing walkers in and around the town is quite normal so we hope that the new website adds to their experience.

They Said

"One of the most challenging tasks for a creative media services company to grapple with comes when a client has a new product launch planned that’s still being formulated when the initial website design briefing takes place!

This is what Purple had to do when they began working on the Coast to Coast Passport for the Richmond Yorkshire CIC.

As our needs changed, in the development of this exciting initiative, Purple needed to revise and adapt their thinking too. Their responsiveness and constructive ‘can do approach’ made all the difference to the successful outcomes we are enjoying today.

Purple Creative has all of the requisite skills to turn good ideas into amazing tangible results."
