Lauren Joins Purple!

We are pleased to introduce you to the newest member of the Purple team, say hello to Lauren!

Lauren has joined us as a Junior Digital Marketer and will be getting on the job training alongside her apprenticeship to help equip her with all the skills to create dazzling marketing content for Purple and the brilliant clients we work with. Lauren has shared her journey to date in her own words…

I'm now in my third week of working with the Purple Creative team and I couldn't be happier. The entire team has done a fantastic job in making me feel very welcome in the office and they are always happy to answer any of my questions. There is a great sense of unity within the office (unless it's time for table football then it gets a bit competitive!) and there are always plenty of cups of tea which is right up my street.

I started working towards a creative career during college, as you can probably tell from my A-Level choices of Art, Dance, and Design Technology, but I wasn't quite sure in what discipline I wanted to pinpoint as I enjoyed all of these areas.

I attended Northumbria University in Newcastle, and received my BA Honours in 3D Design: Furniture and Product in 2021. After I completed my degree I decided to stay in Newcastle while managing bars/restaurants there however, my creative itch wasn't being scratched! I had a burning desire to rekindle my creative nature and enjoyment of learning.

After a year or so I moved back to my hometown of Richmond and started scrolling through the usual job sites, Linkedin, Indeed, etc, feeling more and more deflated as time went on But then… PURPLE! A name that I was familiar with and had been suggested to me multiple times while discussing my career goals with friends and family. The position of Junior Digital Marketer aligned with my goals and the role itself interested me so, as you can probably already tell, I applied!

A few days go by and then that very exciting email comes through from the lovely Jess arranging a call with me which then turns into an in-person interview. As everyone knows interviews are always a nerve-racking experience, no matter how many times you do them, but Jess and Scarlett made me relaxed immediately. We had a lovely chat (not overly formal) then Phil came to introduce himself which was very nice. I left the interview feeling really happy but still with the anticipation of if it would be good or bad news. But again, I guess you already sense the outcome as you are currently reading this on the Purple website, I got the job offer! I was over the moon, to say the least. This is the start of my long-term career direction rather than just another job and I know that all the hard work that I put into developing my design portfolio was worth it.

There is still a sense of shock that I have managed to secure a position here and still feels too good to be true but, for that, I am super proud of myself for the hard work I have put in, as well as grateful to the team for selecting me to be the newest member!
