Maisy's Second Month at Purple!

It’s that time again (I know, I can’t believe it either!). Another month, another update! I’m pleased to tell you all that I’m settling into my home office quite nicely. I might go as far to say that it all feels very normal now and I suppose it’s a good job too, given the recent updates on government guidelines. But we aren’t here to talk Covid-19, so let’s see what I’ve been up to this month…

What’s been going on at Purple?

From more firsts, to successful website launches, and award celebrations. September has seen a lot of excitement and I’m here again struggling to know where to begin.

I mentioned in my last blog that I was yet to start my apprenticeship course, which has now officially started. I met my Development coach earlier this month (virtually), she further introduced me to the course and its structure, outlining what I’ll be doing and learning over the next year. I also had my first Virtual Classroom session through Adobe Connect, learning all about the creative industry. I must say it was very different attending a lesson online all day, but I found it equally as informative and engaging as any physical lesson I have attended before. I am seeing already with only one classroom session down, that Apprentify has got a great system and structure to their programme.

But of course, whilst undergoing my course I’m still helping with the workload here at Purple. Each day I continue to learn new things and discover additional elements to my role, handy software and tools that help towards making lighter work of some day-to-day tasks. I don’t think I’ll ever tire from discovering new-to-me little tech hacks… Clearly I’m in the right industry 😂

Even two months into working at Purple, I’m becoming increasingly aware that even though I’m of the digital generation, it is so easy to get left behind. I’m slowly but surely catching up with the advanced digital world, which is really exciting as there is just so much to discover.

Top Tip: Use Windows/ Cmd + Fullstop to bring up the emoji keyboard on your laptop or computer 🤩🥳🤓✨

I am seeing more and more, how projects thrive and become the fantastic final products of the perfect mix - our professional guidance and advice, skilled web development and of course the visions that our wonderful clients come to us with. I’m getting involved with various areas of the project management process and meeting different clients at a range of stages; from the first meeting, to retrieving content and even helping add content to the websites and then, of course, the inevitable and exciting website launches. I’ve recently had the pleasure of writing about some of our recent launches. If you'd like to read them, check them out over on our Website Launches blog

I can’t conclude my September blog without mentioning our amazing achievement this month. Purple Creative Studio was put forward for the Richmond Business Excellence Awards and as the nominations were placed before lockdown, it had been a long awaited event. It was a little out of the ordinary as we could only view the ceremony through a Youtube live stream. However, true to form, when Phil and Allan were announced winners of ‘Employer of the Year’ AND we received the prestigious David Doorbar Award, we celebrated with joyous messages, GIFs and emojis 💁‍♀️. To put the cherry on top too, our brilliant employers-of-the-year arranged doorstep deliveries of cake and bubbly - I’m truly honoured to have joined such a great team.

I think that about covers everything for this month, I told you it was all go...

Next month's update will creep up on us quickly no doubt, and will inevitably be just as eventful, so be sure to look out for it.

Until then, if you have anything you’d like help from us with, please get in touch, we love to hear from you!
