Purple 2021 Resolutions - James, Kieran & George

James

1.What is your New Year's resolution for 2021?

I never usually stick to a resolution and usually forget about them after a couple of weeks, but that’s usually because I pick something that deep down I don’t really want to do. This year, I just want to make the most of the year and make some exciting plans, having not been able to do much for a while.

2. What is your biggest achievement of 2020?

It’s hard to think of everything that’s happened, but I think working from home for so long and with some challenging projects has been a big achievement. We’ve all been lucky enough to keep working throughout the pandemic which is great as it’s kept spirits high and given us something to focus on.

3. What are you looking forward to/excited for in 2021?

I’m excited to hopefully go on holiday somewhere and be able to do “normal” things again, like everyone else I guess!

4. What do you want to learn more about in 2021?

In 2021 I’d like to learn more about Typescript and potentially use it for an internal Purple project I have started. As well as this I’d like to learn more about module development in DNN to use for future projects.

5. What 3 words would you choose to describe your 2020?

Cancelled, Boring, Strange

1.What is your New Year's resolution for 2021?

In the new year I would like to be able to move out of home, 2020 was a barrier for doing that so I guess 2021 is the year for it!

2. What is your biggest achievement of 2020?

I was listed multiple times by DNN by contributing to the CMS by fixing an issue and also adding an enhancement.

3. What are you looking forward to/excited for in 2021?

I am looking forward to the gyms re-opening so that the fitness journey can continue. 2020 has not been a productive year with the gyms and everything else opening and closing but hopefully, in the near future, it will stay open longer!

4. What do you want to learn more about in 2021?

I would love to learn more about backend coding within DNN, with my knowledge of DNN growing from Front end to backend, I would like to be proficient enough to create/build modules that Purple CS can use on future projects

5. What 3 words would you choose to describe your 2020?

Inconsistent, Unprecedented, Teaching

George

1.What is your New Year's resolution for 2021?

So the time has come to choose a New Year's resolution. Last year's resolution was to take more photographs. I have definitely been going out and taking photos, however probably not to the degree that I had initially planned.

That seems to be the big problem with New Year's resolutions, I never stick to them!

As a result, this year I have decided to drop the specifics and direct my focus to a more general idea. An Aim/goal that includes focusing on my physical fitness and football, developing my skills at work, spending time with loved ones and plenty of other stuff that I feel I can make an improvement on.

2. What is your biggest achievement of 2020?

I don't think there is anybody that can confidently say that 2020 has been their year!

So many obstacles and bumps in the road. I honestly believe that my biggest achievement of 2020 was being lucky enough to continue to work through the pandemic. People will argue that this was not an achievement on my behalf and more lucky that my wonderful employer kept me on through the crisis.

I feel incredibly grateful for this and it feels like all the team has made individual achievements in order for Purple to continue to prosper in tricky and challenging times.

3. What are you looking forward to/excited for in 2021?

Last year my answer was the European Football Championships. Little did I know that this would get cancelled and postponed by a year. Meaning that my answer to this question is in fact the same as last year. Every cloud has a silver lighting and I feel due to the tournament being put back a year, some English players have had more time to develop than they would have.

Meaning we may have a better and more competitive squad, giving us a better chance of winning!

4. What do you want to learn more about in 2021?

Sorry to be boring, but this answer is also the same as last year. I am grateful to be working in the industry that I am in, as it is always evolving. So I am still striving to become better at my job. I can confidently say, my ability as a Website Developer has greatly increased since I wrote the answer to this question a year ago.

5. What 3 words would you choose to describe your 2020?

Unusual, grateful and inconsistent.
