Last year we were approached by Reeth Community Orchard to discuss the potential of helping them with a new website. Straight away we were excited to potentially work with the Group as the garden looked like such a special place for the community. Sarah set up a meeting with Chris and Cheryl to speak about the website and the garden and how we could help them with their digital transformation.

The Brief

The current site providers were looking to move away and as the hosting renewal was due in January Reeth Community Orchard needed the new website to be live in January 2024. When we had our initial chat with a cup of tea we agreed that one of the main things we needed to look at was simplifying the page structure and the site navigation so people could easily find the images and information that they wanted to find as well as Contact information. 

What We Did

• We created a website using our House Template Design which allows us to create a website that is visually appealing when the client does not require a full bespoke design service.
• We tweaked the template to be unique to Reeth Community Orchard using their colours, fonts from printed materials, and added elements that they would like to incorporate into their brand going forward.
• We added an Instagram Feed to the homepage so that the Garden volunteers could quickly take a snap which would update on the website. 
• We added an easy-to-manage Gallery function that would allow the volunteers to update the images seasonally throughout the year as well as show the various borders, the bee-friendly meadow and the history and the development of the garden.
• We provided training to a group of volunteers, teaching them how to edit the website and also how to resize images and use Canva to create eye-catching graphics

The Outcome

We thoroughly enjoyed working with the wonderful volunteers at Reeth Community Orchard, their knowledge and passion for the garden was infectious and we can’t wait to visit in the future, they have even promised that we can join in with some planting later in the year and we are looking forward to Apple Day already.
