We are onto part two of our 2025 housekeeping mini series and we are looking atsocial media! We will be covering best practices, some “how tos” as well as some helpful tips to make sure that you have your business pages are working the very best for you!
Optimise your bio
Social media changes quickly, so your profiles should too. Start with your bio. Does it still show who you are and what you do? If not, it is time to update it. Each platform is different. On Instagram, keep it short and fun. Add hashtags or keywords about your niche. On X/ Twitter, make it short but impactful. For LinkedIn, share your story and highlight your skills. Use keywords people might search for to help with SEO. Check your links to make sure they work. On Instagram and TikTok, tools like Linktree can help share all your links in one place. A fresh bio keeps your profile exciting and helps new followers see why they should follow you.
Ensure that the profile for your brand is a business profile
Switching to a professional or business account is easy, though the steps can vary depending on the platform. On Instagram, for example, go to your account settings, choose “Account,” then tap “Switch to Professional Account.” Follow the steps to pick a business category and connect it to a Facebook page if needed. On Facebook, you can either convert a personal profile to a business page or start fresh with a new one. Just follow the prompts to add your business details and customise your profile.
But why is this important? Using a personal account for your brand can limit your growth. A business account on Instagram gives you access to insights, ad tools, and better ways to engage with your audience. Facebook business pages allow you to run ads and build credibility for your brand. On LinkedIn, personal branding plays a huge role, so it's key to use your profile to showcase expertise while staying professional. These small changes can lead to better reach, improved visibility, and more opportunities for your brand. If you're still unsure how to switch, check out the helpful links below 👇

Do your pages reflect your business visually?
Next, review your profile picture. Is it clear, professional, and relevant to your brand? If not, it’s time for a change. While you’re at it, don’t forget about cover photos on platforms like LinkedIn and Facebook. These are great opportunities to showcase your brand visually, whether through a clean design, a call-to-action, or something that highlights your services. Take a look at your highlights on Instagram. Are they organised and visually appealing? Highlights can give new visitors a quick and engaging overview of what you’re all about. Small updates like these can make a big difference in how your profile is perceived.

Keeping your Google Business Profile updated is super important to make sure customers have the right info about your business. It’s easy to do! Just log in to your Google account (or use the Google Maps app), pick the company you want to manage, and go to the "Info" section. From there, you can update things like your address, phone number, hours, or website. Don’t forget to add photos, reply to reviews, or post updates about promotions or news.
