Hosting

Purple's hosting solutions provide you with simplicity, security and high performance boasting an uptime of 99.99%.

What is Website Hosting?

Once we have created you a beautiful new website, it needs to have a home, somewhere for it to live and this is called hosting.

To host your website we will initially place it on one of our servers. If you think of your website as a piece of real estate, your hosting, or spot on the server, is your plot of land where you can build your house. When you build a house the larger the property you build the more land you will require, and it is the same for websites.

Big websites are often hosted across multiple servers in different locations and in some cases different countries. This means when you type in the address of a website your computer will retrieve information from a server that is closest to your computer which should mean the data is transferred faster and the website loads quickly.

Where would my website be hosted?

We currently have nine dedicated Cloud Servers with our eight primary servers provided by Razorblue Limited who operate their own independent backbone network (AS15692) with POPs (points of presence) in London, Manchester, York, Leeds and Newcastle.

This is a fully managed service with 24/7 support and our Cloud servers are split between Manchester and Wakefield with full redundancy. Also, and to minimise any overhead to web traffic, we limit the number of client websites that we deploy on any single server.

What is the uptime for your servers?

We are very selective about the websites we host on our servers and only ever host websites that we have designed and built ourselves.

In doing this we can avoid many of the errors that occur when multiple sites built using different platforms are all hosted in one place. In these circumstances, an error on one site can have a domino effect and will ripple through a number of sites causing them all to crash.

Our server providers boasts an uptime of 99.99% and we have robust systems in place to continually monitor this.

How often do I need to renew my hosting?

Your website hosting is renewable on an annual basis.
