When you work or volunteer for a charity you understand that every single penny spent on marketing needs to be accounted for and you need to be able to demonstrate the return on investment. So, as someone who has worked in the Charity Sector I have pulled together some of the amazing tools out there with great discounts that I believe all charities should know about.
Google Ads
Now this is the big one, if you are a registered charity you should be eligible for Google Ad Grants which provides £7,500 worth of free Google Ads every single month to help you promote your website. Yes, £7,500 per month for free! (We know you are going to love taking that to the Board of Trustees!)
To start you have to apply to Google for Nonprofits and when you have been accepted you can start using keywords to drive traffic, increase awareness and find new online audiences.
Canva
Now most Marketers we know are as in love with Canva as we are, but did you know that if you are a charity you could be eligible to get Canva for free with the Canva for Nonprofits program? Canva will help you create reports, social media posts, posters, flyers, absolutely everything you could need and with the Non Profits package you get all of the images, fonts, templates and 100GB of storage all for free! If there are a number of people in the team as well you can have up to 50 users in your team completely free!
Email Newsletters
Next up we are going to look at email marketing platforms. Now we are huge fans of Mailchimp but understand that the recent pricing changes have left a few people unhappy.
Mailchimp does offer a 15% Nonprofit discount to charities as does Sendinblue which also offers a 15% discount to an enterprise license.
Charity Emails
Talking about emails, charities are also eligible for heavily discounted business grade email addresses and related services from the two big email players; Google and Microsoft. Google for Nonprofits have a range of pricing but offer 79% off their Business Standard plan meaning that users start from as little as $3 per month (and this includes 2TB of cloud storage per user!) Microsoft also offer plans for non profit organisations which start at £2.30 a month and this includes the use of Outlook, Teams and the Microsoft suite (including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.)
Scheduling Tools
We love a scheduling tool for Social Media in the office as it helps you proactively plan out your content for the month but giving you the flexibility to move posts around and create ideas for upcoming months, however, scheduling tools are often not used in charities because of budget concerns, but that doesn’t need to necessarily be the case.
In Conclusion
We hope that you have found the above article interesting and useful, hopefully it can also save you a few pennies too! If you want to talk about any of the things you have read about above please just let us know, and if you need help with a particular project get in touch.
We regularily send information out in our newsletters, if you would like to recieve our newsletters you can subscribe here.
