As an office, we love Instagram. It’s the happy smiley face of social media where users share their ‘best life’ and we can keep up to date with our friends, families, celebrities and businesses, and seems, at least so far, to have avoided the pitfalls of privacy breaches and fake news that plague other platforms.
One of the fastest growing features of Instagram is Instagram Stories. Originally launched in 2016, Instagram Stories was seen as a rival to Snapchat, allowing users to share images and short videos that expire after 24 hours. The feature has become a popular tool for users, and its prominence in the feed has proven a hit with marketers too.
Users can easily share images from their camera roll, take a pic on the go or even share live video on their stories and use fun features like ‘Questions’, ‘Polls’ and ‘Emoji Sliders’ to make the media even more engaging. Just this week Instagram released their latest feature, the ‘Quiz’ sticker.
So, what is Quizzes? How do you use it? And how can you use this to engage with your followers if you are running a business account?
What is the new Quiz feature on Instagram Stories and how do I use it?
The Quiz sticker allows you to ask your followers to answer multiple choice question. You can add up to 4 answers and then once you are ready, tap the correct answer and share that on your story. The feature can be found by clicking the ‘stickers’ icon when posting to your story. As users pick their answer you will see these answers in your story analytics.
Can I use the Quiz Sticker to get more engagement with my business profile?
The answer to this is yes you most definitely can! One of the biggest things that platforms are looking for is user engagement, they want people to be interested and immersed when scrolling through their stories and what better way than a bit of light trivia? You only need to look at the overnight success of apps like HQ Trivia to see the appetite for fun online quizzes! Social media algorithms are mystifying and forever changing, but one thing has remained constant, the more your content is engaged with, the more likely it is to be seen by more of your followers. So, make use of great features like the poll sticker, adding silly gifs and now the Quiz sticker.
If you are a bit stuck for ideas, why not think about your industry, what is an interesting fact or bit of information that you could base your quiz question around, that would have the added benefit of letting your followers know a little more about what you do? We certainly plan to make use of this feature and look forward to seeing how other businesses do to!
