Time flies when you're having fun and somehow 3 months have now passed since Jess joined the team! She'll be giving us an update every 3 months of what she's been up to as she completes her apprenticeship tasks as well as lots of work for our clients. Read on to find out what she's been up to since joining us, it's safe to say she's been very busy!
And just like that, I’ve completed three months here at Purple! The time has flown since I started my apprenticeship here with the team, and I decided what better way to make an account of what I’ve been up to and all the things I’ve been learning than to start a blogging series to keep everyone up to date with my progress! With my apprenticeship course starting back in November I’ve been learning with the team at Apprentify my education provider, alongside the team at Purple, which means I’ve been in the best hands to get myself started in the world of Digital Marketing.
What I’ve been up to
My first few weeks at Purple were a total whirlwind, learning the ropes, getting to know all the members of the team, and getting stuck into the washing up rota! It was also in these few weeks where I was able to sit in on our Digital Marketing workshops to learn the basics of social media and email marketing all while meeting local businesses from across North Yorkshire. Since then, I’ve met with plenty of clients from local businesses across North Yorkshire and County Durham, and I’m looking forward to meeting more!
Throughout the last few months, I’ve been up to so much and have learned lots too. I’ve explored a wide range of Digital Marketing skills and services that Purple specialise in, including SEO, Social Media Marketing, and Google Ads to boost clients’ presence, as well as lots of analytics to assess the success behind the work we do. I’ve been able to take on one of our new clients too, right from the beginning of their journey.
Some of the work I’m most proud of includes my blog posts for the Purple news page. I’ve had the opportunity to write posts on a variety of different topics, from Christmas marketing campaigns to social media changes. I’ve also had the opportunity to write a case study detailing one of our bigger web design projects too, which was really interesting the learn more about our process of building a website tailored to the clients’ needs.
Working with Apprentify
It was tricky finding a Digital Marketing Apprenticeship in North Yorkshire, especially when I live in Leyburn, but luckily enough, I came across the role here at Purple. Thankfully, my apprenticeship provider Apprentify offer remote learning. This means that although they are based in Manchester, I can attend their learning sessions from anywhere – as long as I have an internet connection, which is perfect for where we live, as I don’t have to travel further afield to attend college.
During my first month at Purple, I met Charles, one of the development coaches at Apprentify who talked through the process of the apprenticeship, how to log my personal study and cleared up any questions I had. Since then, I’ve been on six virtual classroom sessions, learning all about key marketing principles, from market segmentation to business operations. So now, thanks to the team at Apprentify, I’m able to use some of these new skills and knowledge into my everyday tasks at work and help the team here at Purple.
Later on in February, I’ll be having my first exam, testing my knowledge on the five units I’ve studied so far, Basic Marketing Principles, Market Segmentation, The Customer, Marketing & The Business, and Digital Strategy, before I get started on my second Knowledge Module, learning all about coding, web development and how the web works!
