It’s day 2 of our Purple People New Year’s resolutions and today we’re hearing from Sarah, our Client Services Director, and James, our Tech Team leader. 2020 is set to be a big year for Sarah especially and to be honest, we’re all really excited about it…keep reading to find out what we’re talking about!
Sarah
1. What is your New Year's resolution for 2020?
I am not a fan of New Year's Resolutions as I have broken far too many over the years!! However, I always start the New Year with the intention to drink more water, always take my makeup off and eat more fruit, all very boring I know, but probably what most of the nation think after a festive month of indulgence!
2. What is your biggest achievement of 2019?
Scarlett very kindly nominated me for the Women in Technology Mentor of the Year Ward in London, which I won! I have never been more surprised and shocked in my life as there were so many inspirational women in the room and to be nominated alone was just wonderful! I am also proud of the wonderful team that we have built and sustained at Purple, we have had George and Jess join us in 2019 taking us up to a team of ten and I am so proud of the wonderful team that we have that can embrace new challenges and create beautiful and brilliant solutions for our clients.
3. What are you looking forward to/excited for in 2020?
Completely unrelated to work, but in 2020 I am excited (and nervous) to become a Mum for the first time! Wish me luck!
4. What do you want to learn more about in 2020?
In 2020 I would like to learn more about optimising websites for voice search, one study I read said that in 2020 more than 50% of internet searches are initiated by voice, which is really important for our web clients.
5. What 3 words would you choose to describe your 2019?
Fun, Beautiful and Busy
James
1. What is your New Year's resolution for 2020?
For the past year, I've been counting a 10 minute game of table tennis in the afternoon towards my only form of daily exercise. So in the new year, I think I'd like to definitely exercise more and get a bit fitter. I'd also like to try and become a better morning person by getting up earlier (without drinking more coffee to help).
2. What is your biggest achievement of 2019?
It's quite hard to remember everything that has happened in the past year, but recently I have explored a new eCommerce platform called nopCommerce (https://www.nopcommerce.com/). It's been quite a rewarding process and I have definitely learnt some things along the way.
3. What are you looking forward to/excited for in 2020?
I've always wanted to go to Thailand and the plan is to book a trip for summer next year which is really exciting. 🌴
4. What do you want to learn more about in 2020?
Web development is always changing, and new technologies are coming onto the scene, so I'd like to investigate these more and stay on top of the trends.
5. What 3 words would you choose to describe your 2019?
Happy, Exciting and Quick.
