It’s our final day of our Purple People New Year’s resolutions and today we hear from our two newest members of the team. George has been with us for 5 months and Jess only 2 but they’ve settled in so well it’s like they’ve been here years! Read down below their 2019 wins and their hopes for 2020.
Jess
1. What is your New Year's resolution for 2020?
My new year's resolution this year is to move more! Since getting my job at Purple I’ve noticed I’m sat down a whole lot more than I used to be, and my step count is a lot lower than it should be! Ideally, I’d like to get my step count up to an average of at least 5,000 steps a day… I’m sure it’ll be much easier when the weather gets a bit nicer and it’s lighter on an evening!
2. What is your biggest achievement of 2019?
I’ve had a few big achievements this year which I'm really proud of, but my top three would probably be graduating from university, passing my driving test and getting my job with Purple. They’re probably some of my biggest achievements ever, so to have them all happen in one year is amazing!
3. What are you looking forward to/excited for in 2020?
In 2020 I’m planning to move out of my parents’ house and find somewhere to live with my boyfriend which I’m really looking forward to. I’m also excited to settle further into my role at Purple and meet plenty more clients. 2020 is going to be my first year outside of full-time education, after finishing my degree in July this year, so it’ll be an interesting one!
4. What do you want to learn more about in 2020?
I think 2020 will be a big year for learning, with my apprenticeship and getting stuck into things at Purple, I’ll be learning every day. But something specific I’d like to learn more about is probably visual content and different ways to create it, to put some more variation into the content we create for clients. I’d like to have more of a play around with video as well and learn more about creating video content. We are 65% more likely to remember information if it includes an image, so it’s a really important part of my role!
5. What 3 words would you choose to describe your 2019?
Stressful, rewarding and exciting.
George
1. What is your New Year's resolution for 2020?
I’m not too sure what my new year’s resolution will be this year? Last year I made the decision to try and cut out the amount of coffee I was drinking. That lasted a grand total of 1 month before the dreaded days at Uni forced me to break.
In terms of this year, I think I will make it my mission to take more pictures. I recently purchased a Google Pixel, which has an amazing camera. Which is just wasted on me, so I would like to take more pictures. This includes days out and family occasions, that I can then go back and look at in years to come.
2. What is your biggest achievement of 2019?
Probably getting this job. It’s true! Working at Purple is an absolute dream, and every day I think about just how lucky I am to work here.
3. What are you looking forward to/excited for in 2020?
In truth, the Euro’s in the summer. I love football, and it doesn’t get bigger than a top European Tournament. Which sees the very best international teams in Europe battle against each other. It makes me even more excited that England have a decent chance of winning this time round, which will most definitely bring the country together.
4. What do you want to learn more about in 2020?
I would like to become better at my job. I do realise that this would naturally happen over time anyway but doing extra revision in a technical world that is forever changing doesn’t seem such a bad idea.
5. What 3 words would you choose to describe your 2019?
Exciting, eventful and fun.
